It may not be the era of Electric Vehicles (EV) to dominate in this generation, yet the demand for EV is rapidly growing according to the International Energy Agency. The global growth in the market reached 77 percent in 2015 which mean that there are more than one million electric cars hit the roads.
Since 1909, Henry Ford, the first man to build autos, made this invention by using gasoline. In 1925, more than ten million cars were sold by automobile manufacturers in the world. Aside from that, the growth of gasoline filling stations also emerged all around the globe.
Right now, there have been innovations that are greatly improved and are done in order to be more efficient, eco-friendly, and less resource consumption.
Electric vehicles are boosted by one or more electric motors. This utilizes electrical energy in rechargeable batteries like Lithium-Ion batteries. For some people, they consider electrical vehicles more proficient and practical than that of the one that uses gasoline simply because of how well it is put. Imagine running a vehicle without having to pump gasoline – that would be great, right?
Electric vehicles also provide quiet and smooth operation. Some of them also give stronger acceleration and requires less maintenance.
It was in September 2016 when about 61% of the global stocks were pure electric cars and vans. The Nissan Leaf is the world’s record top selling highway-capable electric car with 250,000 units sold worldwide from the date it was released, December 2010, until December 2016. It was followed by the Tesla Model S with 158,000 units sold from June 2012 to December 2016.
Electric cars in some point of views are advantageous because it will help a lot in maintaining the well-needed atmosphere that we need because it reduces air pollution that we usually get from conventional combustion engine automobiles. In other words, it is environmentally friendly since it does not require the vehicle to burn gasoline to run. It also acquires very low maintenance costs because the lifetime of the batteries that are used can be very extensive.
People using electrical vehicles must be very vigilant because there are certain cases wherein the Lithium-ion batteries may suffer thermal runaway, or a situation in an increase in temperature, when overheated or overcharged. In some cases, this sometimes leads to combustion.
Right now, the word is slowly turning eco-friendly in all aspects because most of the population are feeling the changes that are happening in our planet. One good thing about these EVs is that they do not require burning of gasoline which is nature friendly and that we are going to experience less heat. Let us hope and pray that these actions continue so that we can slowly amend and cure what has happened to our globe.
