How Impactful Diabetes Is To Our Bodies


Diabetes has been a major disease that’s k*****g a lot of people each year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it k***s approximately 3.4 million people every year. Furthermore, around 350 million people in the world has diabetes. It’s a disease that is silent but will definitely take a toll if it’s left unnoticed. Before we get to how impactful it is, let’s first tackle what Diabetes is.

What is Diabetes?

Scientifically referred to as diabetes mellitus, it is the condition where an individual has high levels and concentration of blood sugar or glucose in the blood. This is due to an insufficient supply of insulin to our system; or the cells do not properly respond to insulin in our blood stream.


Diabetes has two (2) types; both has similar symptoms like tiredness, frequent urination, itchy g******s, blurred vision, slow healing of wounds, and weight loss.

This article will focus more on how Diabetes impacts our bodies. Having that knowledge will then lead us to be able to take good care of our bodies even if we don’t have this rare condition. In addition to that, it’ll also discuss what the causes are and how we can treat diabetes.

The types of Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes which is 10% of the diabetes in the world, is a condition where the pancreas don’t produce insulin and it’s roots? – Unknown. The glucose taken by the bloodstream is not properly distributed to muscle cells due to the lack of insulin. It starts building up in the blood escalating the blood sugar level. Since this is the case, the body automatically releases this through urination and that’s why people with diabetes urinate a lot.

Type 2 diabetes however is not the same as the one above. 90% of people with diabetes has this. Most often, this type affects people who’re over 40 (for westerners) and 25 (for asians). The symptoms of Type 2 diabetes are very minimal to the point that it may take 5-10 years before the symptoms show. In this type of diabetes, the pancreas is not producing enough insulin but the cells in the body are not able to supply it to the muscles.

As you can see, the symptoms of Diabetes are not that very showy. Most of the time, it’ll come unnoticed.

Diabetes controlling and treatment; how important?

Let’s cut to the chase: All types of diabetes are treatable. The 1st type (Type 1) lasts a lifetime; there’s no known cure to it. Type 2 is the same. However, there are some people who was successful in getting rid of the symptoms without medication. How? Through a combination of diet, exercise, and body weight control.

Experts and researchers from the Mayo Clinic Arizona said that gastric bypass surgery can slowly improve the condition and even reverse type 2 diabetes in a high proportion of patients. Within three to five years the disease recurs in approximately 21% of them, they added. “The recurrence rate was mainly influenced by a longstanding history of Type 2 diabetes before the surgery. This suggests that early surgical intervention in the obese, diabetic population will improve the durability of remission of Type 2 diabetes,” said Yessica Ramos, MD.

Type 1 Diabetes patients are treated and monitored by regular insulin injections; of course, together with dietary nutrition and exercise.

Type 2 Diabetes patients usually are treated and medicated with tablets and medication. Although their treatment is lesser and lighter, they sometimes need to be injected with insulin as well.


Type 2 Diabetes Home Remedies

Unlike Type 1 Diabetes, we’ve mentioned that Type 2 can be treated with normal things and can be managed without insulin injection. So, in order for you to be slightly away from this condition, consume and do the following:

Cinnamon

  • Mix half or one teaspoon of cinnamon to lukewarm water daily. 
  • Boil raw cinnamon in 2 glasses of water. Let it cool for 20-30 minutes and take them. Do this daily. 

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera can be bought in tons of health boutiques. Though its taste is not meant for food, its health benefits are over the top. You can mix it with buttermilk and any other liquid to improve its taste. Usually, aloe vera is for beauty purposes and cosmetics but in this part, it’s for your health. It has anti-inflammatory properties that are great in controlling blood sugar levels.

Vitamin C

We all know that vitamin C is a must in our everyday lives. From keeping our skin healthy to protecting us from harmful microorganisms, vitamin C indeed is a must. Recent researches and studes have shown that taking and consuming approximately 600 mg of vitamin C can reduce blood sugar levels significantly. Thus, people who have mild to chronic diabetes SHOULD consume food that are rich and full of vitamin C.

Exercise

Working out does not only improve our physicality, it also improves our mental state. One of the causes of Type 2 diabetes is obesity and being overweight. All physical activities that burn out everything can relevantly reduce your blood sugar levels. Zumba, yoga, jogging, sports, or plain working out can double your chances of eliminating your symptoms. Walking everyday can definitely help reduce the blood sugar levels

Diabetes has been running for centuries and until now, there is no known cure for Type 1 diabetes. Although Type 2 diabetes can be maintained and regulated without those painful insulin injections, it still isn’t a reason to disregard this condition.
